Hello,
I've been looking at getting a Eurail pass and possibly a Britrail pass for my trip (March->June), and I am confused about how days on passes are counted.
As an example, would a train from Paris to Nice, with one transfer on the way, be considered one day of travel or two? Is one "day" the same as taking a train from one station to another? If this is the case, it would mean buying a two day pass, or two P-P tickets.
Thanks for any clarification you can provide.

niknar, The "short" answer is that it depends on which Railpass you're using. There are a huge variety, and these include both consecutive-day Passes as well as Flex Passes (ie: xx days in two months in xx countries). With the Flex Passes, you'll write the day of travel onto the Pass before you board the train, using the day-month-year format. Note that Rail Passes do NOT include the reservation fees that are compulsory on some trains. You'll have to pay for these separately! Be sure to validate your Pass before first use. You might have a look at www.ricksteves.com/rail/ as there's LOTS of great information on the site. You should be able to download the Rail Guide (look in the bottom right corner of that page on the website). Hope this helps. Happy travels!
