Hi! I will be studying in Rome for a semester starting in September. I'd like to go two (maybe more?) weeks early to travel other parts of Europe before classes start and exploring Italy takes over.
Any suggestions on where to travel before heading to Rome?

schmal131,
First of all, welcome to the Boards! I have a few comments to begin with.
With only two weeks, my suggestion would be to try and keep your distances fairly short so that you don't waste a lot of time travelling between locations. That means choosing destinations that are reasonably close geographically. Also, don't try to fit too many stops into that two week period, as that will also minimize travel times.
It would help to know something about your interests and what you hope to see? Also, have you ever been to Europe before? If this is your first trip, I'd highly recommend pre-reading the Guidebook Europe Through The Back Door before you go, as that will provide you with a lot of good information on "how" to travel in Europe.
I'm sure the group here will have some good suggestions for you.
Cheers!
