Pack size for 10 month trip

The pack I'm looking at is a "long" version and has a capacity of 86 L, there is also the "short" version which is 76 L.

I was leaning towards the bigger pack, I plan on packing very light, but I think it would be better to have the bigger pack for on the way home to bring back more goodies etc..

what do you guys think?

It really depends on how tall you are. When you put on a pack, you shouldn't be able to see it over top of your head.

Also, how does the torso length fit you? Put them on with the hip belt and straps done up and make sure nothing is pulling away from your body or sitting too low or too high.

Well I personally think that you should go with the large pack cause I am sure your girlfriend would apperciate the extra space too. See what I'm thinking is that if you get the larger pack guys generally tend to pack a little lighter then girls right.... So if you get that larger pack it would be to both your benifits. ;D
