Next year I will only get one week of vacation, with the weekend off would make 9 days. I really want to take a trip to Europe. I went to Italy a few years ago and absolutely LOVED Florence. I am thinking about going back, except staying in one place and living like a local. I don't want to rush around wasting time travel ling between multiple cities during my short stay. I'm not sure if I want to go back to Florence and take a few day trips or go to a different city. Staying half the time in Bern, Switzerland and the other half in Vienna, Austria. I want to make the most of my short trip. I don't want to be spending a lot of time on trains or buses. I just want to soak up the cultural experience. Does anyone have any opinions on only going to 2 cities while on vacation in Europe? Any suggestions? Thanks!

I think it's a great idea, and I would be tempted to spend all the time in Vienna, or at least Austria, because it's so much cheaper. You won't run out of things to do, and you can observe a lot more when you slow down.
