Hiya, Been doing a bit of reading... and I know that most people say with the amount of walking involved, when you're backpacking in Europe, you really do need a a good pair of walking shoes. I was just wondering if anyone has ever travelled wearing a pair of Docs...and if they were comfy enough? Bex

bex,
On the topic of travel footwear, most people have to find a solution that works for them. Sometimes even choosing a different model of shoe from one brand can make a lot of difference.
I've never used Doc Martens, but lots of people seem to like them. I'd suggest doing a few "test walks" around your neighborhood with the shoes, preferably with a Pack. That should provide some indication on how comfortable the shoes will be for travel.
I normally use New Balance shoes at home, but my travel shoes are ECCO Track II. I've also used Rockport in the past, but found they weren't as robust as the ECCO models. I've looked at Mephisto but they're VERY expensive.
Good luck and happy travels!
