Hello everyone! This is such a great site. My son graduates high school in June and I promised him we would backpack through Europe to send him off to college! I can only manage about 18-19 days off from work, so it will be a relatively quick trip. It will be the first time for both of us and we are looking so forward to it. I would appreciate any ideas you guys may have. I am 37 years old, my son just turned 18. We are thinking of flying into Amsterdam from Jacksonville, FL. Taking the train from AMS to Paris, then to Florence, Rome, Pompei, then back to Rome. Flying back to home from Rome. Does this sound doable? We plan on staying in hostels the entire trip - mostly because this is something we both have wanted to do in order to experience Europe at its fullest. Again, thanks for your input. Half the fun is planning! Charlie
