I have a flight booked for Paris. My friend wants to come along and do a Eurotrip with me.
Will he be able to do it under $2K if we only do 1-2 stops? (We're looking into CouchSurfing, but only as a backup to hostels if it works out.)
He think that Paris will be really expensive to stay (living, food) in for a long time, so will it be cheaper to go to Prague/Eastern Europe? With travel costs, will it off set how expensive Paris is?
He's not convinced about Germany, what cities do you suggest?

dar482,
First of all, welcome to the Boards!
Could you provide a bit more information about your "Eurotrip"?
> When will this trip be taking place?
> Regarding your budget estimate of "$2K", what currency are you using?
> How long will the trip be?
> Which "1-2 stops" are you considering?
> What type of sightseeing or other activities will you be doing?
Paris definitely can be expensive, however that depends on several variables. Staying in Hostels or Couchsurfing will keep the cost of lodgings down and picking up a sandwich or whatever at local deli's rather than eating in restaurants will keep the cost of food down. Depending on what you want to see in Paris, a Paris Museum Pass may be a good investment.
I'm not sure that Prague is going to be substantially cheaper than Paris, but again there are "variables". Other places in eastern Europe may be cheaper, but you'll have to balance that against the transportation costs of getting to and from those locations (especially if you have to return to Paris for your flight home).
Regarding cities in Germany, Berlin and Munich are definitely great places to visit (however, if funds are an issue I doubt that you'll be able to visit both of them). Your choice may depend on which one best fits your overall travel route.
Good luck with your planning!

> When will this trip be taking place? My flight is booked for February 4th to the 27th.
> Regarding your budget estimate of "$2K", what currency are you using? We're Americans. $2,000 USD.
> Which "1-2 stops" are you considering? The flight is to and return from Paris. The other stops are possibly London, Amsterdam, Germany, Austria.
> What type of sightseeing or other activities will you be doing? We're in our twenties, so definitely nightlife would be a priority, but otherwise, I love traveling and sightseeing in general. There aren't any specific attractions that I must see.
Thanks for the tips otherwise.
