I have decided that I want to go to France (Paris & other cities that are currently undecided), and wherever else I can (Germany? Spain?) this summer. I'm a 21 year old girl, and I'm going with one or two friends. We want to stay in Hostels and just kind of sight-see and experience everything that we can. I'm basically in charge of making the plans so that this trip will actually happen.
That's all the plan that I have so far, and I'm not really sure where to go from there. I'm thinking we'll go either end of May - middle / end of June, or mid July - early / mid August.
I know this might sound a little dumb, but I don't really know how to plan a trip to another country! I've only ever been to places inside the US. So: How do we plan this trip? What do we need to look into, other than the obvious (where to stay, what to see, how to get from place to place, etc)?
Also, I'm a pretty confident, aware, and wary person, but I've heard that it's dangerous for young girls to travel in other countries. How dangerous is it, really? What do I need to be ready for, etc? And I know my parents are okay with me going, but they're obviously going to worry their heads off, so I feel like I need to know as much as possible about safety so that they can stay calm while I'm gone.
