Here's an idea:
Lots of women have posted questions about taking dressier clothes for clubs and such. I have a suggestion for this. Wrinkle resistant black pants are a good base for a dressier outfit (and practical for every day use). Pair this with a plain black or white tank top.
I would reccommend taking a long colorful scarf made of silky fabric. They are cheap (you can get really cool ones for $5 or less) and take up no room. Tie this around your waist before heading out to a club (or even your arm and let it hang down or use it as a head wrap). This can be dressy and fun even when paired with just a plain black or white t-shirt. You want to dress simple and pack light on these trips, so go for accessories instead (like a pair of dangly earings). They are light and take up no room and can make an every day outfit one suitable for clubbing in 5 minutes flat.
Just go for fun and funky things that are inexpensive - you don't want to risk losing a pricey pair of earings when there are so many cool looking ones in the stores for under $20.
Hope that helps some of the ladies with the day to evening look problem. ;D

Excellent post, SaraBeth - thank you for that!
I think the scarf idea is great - it's light but it can make an outfit look more stylish.
A wrinkle resistant black skirt is great as well, especially if you are going in the summer. You want one that you can wash in the sink, shake out and hang to dry. I took one dress like that and man, did I ever get use out of it!
Girls - no matter how light you are trying to pack, you will regret it if you don't bring a little big of makeup. Not especially for daytime use but if you want to go out, it will make you feel dressed up.
Once again, great topic. Thread where people come up with ideas to help others - we love 'em!

I do the scarf thing, too. My clubbing days are pretty much over, but we do like to go out for a few splurge dinners. I always take a black, wrinkle resistant dress or skirt, knee length or long, kinda depends onthe season. Also, instead of going the mascara route, I get my eyelashes tinted right before we leave. It only costs $20 and lasts about 6 weeks.

Dustoffmom I used to go to this kind of fancy spa till I found a nice little girl quite by accident. She's a registered aesthician (I am sure I spelled that wrong) who works out of a hair salon next door to my video place. I should probably do my eyebrows, too, they are very blonde, but in a way, I kind of like the contrast. I'll probably get my legs waxed, too. Oh, the pain we go through!
