KEIRA, It's difficult to say which size of Backpack would be best for you, as everyone's needs are different. A lot will depend on how much you want to pack around. A good general rule is to pack the same for three weeks as for three months. Some travellers seem to carry very large Packs, some very small (40 L.). I believe something in between, perhaps 50-65 L. is a good compromise. Hopefully you will get a few more comments, especially concerning the experiences of some who had to mail home "unneccesary" items part way during their trip. As it appears you haven't bought a Backpack yet, a few general comments: > You will have to decide on whether a panel loader or top loader is preferable. There are pros & cons for each type. > Do you require a detachable Daypack? Some people really like this option in a Pack. > Whichever Pack you decide on, make sure you are measured for torso size, and properly fitted!!! Ideally, the majority of weight should rest on your hips. If possible, try this out fully loaded for a few hours to see how it works for you (I think some shops may allow this if they take an imprint of your credit card?) > I couldn't tell from your Post where you're located, so don't know which Packs will be most easily available in your area. Some Packs to look at: Eagle Creek, Gregory, Arcteryx, Osprey or MacPac. They all have good web sites, so you can check them out and also find dealers in your area. There is a good section on this web site regarding Backpack selection. You could also check www.travelite.org, www.backpackeurope.com or www.ricksteves.com (Graffiti Wall) for some other suggestions. I tend to look at Backpack purchases as a long term investment, so am willing to spend a bit more for a durable and high quality product. Hope these comments will be of some help. Good luck with your Pack selection and happy travels!!!
