IS anyone on these boards a flight attendant? I was wondering what the benefitd would be? How long do you get to stay in each country when you fly there? Do you get discounts on flights? Any downsides? I am considering taking a course and getting a Flight Attendant certificate. (It wouldn't be until at least January 2004)

I have a friend that's a flight attendant, I know they get good discounts on flights but I don't think they spend very much time when they travel to other countries. I don't remember exactly but I think most of the time they fly one way to the other country then the same day take a trip back with a different group of passengers. And this is obviously dependent upon the length of the flight. I actually spoke with an attendent during a stopover on my last trip and she said she quite enjoyed doing it just to see different places etc. Maybe an actual flight attendent is floating around and can fill us in some more.

Hi there! I'm a flight attendant and thought I could offer some advise. I'm not too sure the FA certificate would be a good idea. Each airline has it's own training you are required to go thru and I would hate to see you spend $ on a course you will be required to learn over again. If you want to be a FA, I suggest you go to an open interview or call airline job hotlines. Depending on which carrier you work for, most international layovers are 24 hrs. or more. If you're using your benefits and going on your own, the flight is practically free, and most major hotels offer airline discounts. Hope this helps. Bu-Bye now!
