I had a quick question about calling home (US) from Europe. I saw on a website (can't remember which) a card that supposedly was good in all european countries and you could call the US for 12 cents per minute. Sounded too good to be true to me, but I wanted to see what you guys thought.
Got any good advice? I won't want a huge one, just enough to check in once or twice during my month long trip.
Thanks.

I am not familiar with the card you are speaking of.....my firstlong trip last year I bought phone cards in whatever country I was in. You normally get them at the tobacco shops, they are quite reasonable and available in several monetary amounts. But for my trip this past dec-jan I got a prepaid card at Sam's Club which offered far and away the cheapest rates going, can be used in nearly any country in the world and best of all, any time left can be used once you get home. Also, you can buy it before you go so you won't need to budget for it once there. And, it is rechargeable by phone call, so if you do happen to get chatty ;D you can add more time with US funds from home.

Thanks for the advice. I've got a Sam's Club card I've been using at college for years (that way I don't have to fight with the roommates ) I didn't even think about calling to see their international rates but I just did and they're not too bad! I'm planning to use a combination of that card and giving my boyfriend a card from Eurotel www.phonecards.com/phonecards/phonecards2.html since we'll be staying with friends (ie we'll have a phone number to use for part of the trip. It seems that calling from the US to Europe is significantly cheaper than the other way around ? Anyway, thanks so much, I'll be taking your advice, I already added some more minutes to my card!
