Ok boys and girls, I'm starting my plans for another road trip. This one will be more planned than my last one (lord knows what I was thinking then...). So one of the plans I'm throwing around is a "Europe in the USA" trip. That is, visit those little towns that share the names of European cities. I know of a few, but I don't know of them all. Anyone have any ideas (about "Europe in the USA" or another type of trip? Thanks for any help!

Easiest way to find them is to go on weather.com, then enter the name of a European city. For example, London brings London Kentucky, London West Virginia, London Texas, London Ohio.

Texas has lots of those places. Paris, (heard of Wim Wenders' movie, "Paris, Texas?") Rhome, Muenster, Buda, etc.
sounds like fun!

This is a neat idea and "sounds" fun. But you may want to be sure there are some things to do in these places and that the main attraction isn't the local steel refinery.

I'm hitting local Geocaches wherever I may be. Thank god for Microsoft Streets & Trips (Hells freezing over! I'm praising Micro$oft!)! So it doesn't eally matter where I go, I'll have something to do! ;D

Hi Doug - I'm originally from Wisconsin and actually really liked the state so my imput involves the towns there. Wisconsin actually has 12 of the places on your list: Milan, Rome, Paris, Florence, Berlin, Lyon, Hamburg, Nice, Vienna, Athens, Brussels, and Krakow. Brussels, WI is located in Door County, on Lake Michigan, and it is very popular with tourists. Krakow is a couple hours drive from there. A couple more hours away you can find Hamburg, Athens, and Milan, WI, which are all within a few dozen miles of each other in the central part of the state, near where I grew up. Berlin is a couple of hours away from that. Nice and Florence are in the far northern part of the state. Rome, Paris, Lyon, and Vienna are all in the southern part of the state near Madison and Milwaukee. Speaking of Milwaukee... in the summertime it is the home of an ethnic festival every weekend of the summer (June through September). The ones I can think of offhand that are Europe-related are German Fest, Irish Fest, Festa Italiana and Polish Fest. The festivals are held at the festival grounds near the lakefront, and are a really big deal. Thousands and thousands of people attend each one. www.milwaukee.org/Of the cities from your list that have namesakes in Wisconsin, Brussels is actually decent as a tourist destination. The others are small but are near other places of interest. Sorry for the long post!
