Depending on where you are travelling yes, travel will be a bit cheaper. This is the time you should go to the US if you are planning it.
Our dollar hit the 82 Cents mark today for a 13 year high against the US dollar. According to the economists on TV it's not so much our dollar being strong as the US dollar weakening.
Unfortunatly for me our dollar hasn't gained much on the pound in the past month. Still, it's much cheaper this year than last.

The company I work for complains about a high Canadian dollar, because it means our profit margins are so much lower. Most of our sales are to the US. When US dollars were converted to Canadian dollars when the Canadian dollar was low, we would end up with a lot more Canadian dollars. Now we end up with a lot fewer. So at best this means smaller bonuses and at worst this means downsizing.
But apart from that, this does mean trips to the US are a lot cheaper.

Yep, same through this site - the commissions I make are paid in US dollars so now when I cash them, I get less.
I am happy about trips to the US being cheaper though as I like a good shopping trip to Seattle now and then!

I picked up 500 Pounds in TC's the past month to take advantage of the high dollar. I'm scared it won't last and I'll get stuck paying 2.50/pound again.
Today it's down to 2.26! I'm half tempted to pick up a bit more.

don't know about that. if a canadian investor wants to buy stocks in US$, they'd be cheaper now. so the investor will get more shares for his CN$ - therefore more dividends down the road. - d We'll it's great for travellers, but not for our investors!

Yup, that way around you're right, but the other way around for the canadian economy, it's not as good cause american investors aren't getting as much for their money when they invest in Canada or buy from Canada, so we're loosing some of our trades to other countries!

It's exactly the same situation here in the UK. The GBP has been so strong for the past 5 years or so that we're seeing businesses pull out of the UK in favour of continental Europe. This has only been exacerbated by the UK's perceived reluctance to join the Euro, as well as the expansion of the EU (many manufacturers are now producing in Eastern Europe and stamping their products with 'Made in the EU'- this makes people believe that they are purchasing a Western made product).

The Canadian dollar continues to gain ground against the US dollar. Today it's up to .83! While they said the weakness of the US dollar is partly to blame, the balanced budget and surplus is also coming into play. To buy a pound it would cost me 2.25 They say the Canadain dollar will continue to be strong and might max out at 85 or so cents. But some are thinking it might go even higher. That would make travelling much nicer in May.
