true enough kim! however i have to say, seeing it on 4 cm screen doesn't compare to full size when you get home:)
question for all... normally when i travel in the uk i don't use a moneybelt or anything (habit i go there too often). i use an over the shoulder bag which is where i put my camera... when i'm in europe in sept, i will only have a day pack with me in the day... should i keep my camera out and around my neck (and look like a tourist?) or should i put it away all the time after each shot? just seems like it might get annoying... any thoughts?

You definately need a converter. (ok i know i'm gonna mess up the numbers) we in NA are on something like 110V and they use something like 240V (or there abouts) so if you want to plug your computer in over there you need a converter. also bear in mind that while the V is the same all over europe (i think) the plugs are not always.
as far as plugging into networks, i would be very surprised to hear you could acutally plug into a network with a physical wire in an internet cafe (although i have no idea if you can or not). if they have a wireless network this normally isn't a problem because that's the whole point of it being wireless. considering many hostels i've looked into booking have free wireless internet, buying a wireless card will probably be your best bet and try and book into hostels or hotels that have wireless. hope this helps a little...

No as far as I can tell a hog's head was not used for the leaky cauldron. the hog's head is a pub in hogsmeade (wizard town) that harry and company go to.

yes things can't be looking so hot for quebec winter carnival either! damp weather has affected both events the past couple of years... sculptures were melting in quebec last year...
on the one hand i despise winter driving so this works for me... but the environmental scientist in me knows its really bad.

the beehive only does packed lunches if i remember correctly. they were outstanding and only 4 euros... much cheaper (and better) then anything around the major attractions

all i know is what i looked into when i went to europe. camp sites always came up as being far from cities and towns. if you are looking for parks i would suggest doing a search for national parks of the countries you are interested in visiting. they will certainly have information about camping and prices.

hey
most camp sites are way in the outskirts of major cities (if you are interested in that). and are often not easily accessible with public transit. will you have a car in europe? as far as i know you have to pay for campsites as well.

i stayed in ostello santa fosca... it was fine. clean and cheap (17 euros). but nothing to write home about. showers were fine. bizarre office hours but once you're checked in you can come and go as you please. no breakfast and no common area but there's a grocery store about 200 m away. oh and its all single sex i beleive. it was acceptable accomodation for an expensive city.
