Sooo i went on another tangent today.... Started with stuttgart looking at the porsche factory, finding out they have tours (which are hard to get). Soooo this lead to Porsche Liepzig which offers tours (sold out) but i can get on a tour if i buy i bundel it with their catering offers. The quesiton is really is 3.5 days enough to check out Berlin, beacuse i fly into Berlin in the 13th afternoon. They have a tour in Leipzeg on the 17th (35E Porsche package) or should i spend 4.5 days in Berlin, with Leipzeg on the 18th (55E Porsche package). Guess any city is doable in any amount of time, just a matter of priority. Im a poor backpackker but some how i can justify spending $100 aussie The things we do for love. If i do spend 3.5 days in Berlin ill then spend the day in Leipzeg then move on to Dresden for a day then push onto Prague. Im leaning towards 3.5 days in Berlin, day in Leipzig (Porsche), day in Dresden. Cheers in Advance, i must be soooo annoying by now, but you guys are absolute gold Cherish every word Anthony

yes it is doable, but buy yourself a card for the metro (U-bahn), as everything is really far from each other. Just make a list with the things you want to see and you will be OK. At least you won't have the problem showing up at the Pergamon museum, to find out it is closed on Mondays

Sorry, should of mentioned its December. Silly me. Lonely Planet has a 2-day breakdown of Berlon as well, so gonna stick to that than pick out any other must-see. Hertha Berlin play on the 16th so guess its more like 3days for Berlin. These tangents i go on always end up costing me money, but should more than make up in experience. Thankyou to the ever helpfull Herrbert

I'm not sure about the latest changes to your itinerary, but I recall you were going to Stuttgart and Munich - yes? If so, here's a link on Stuttgart pretravel.proboards1.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&n=1&thread=2889&page=1, You could also visit the BMW museum in Munich to sate your car desires! As Herrbert wrote, it is doable, and it that's what you want to see in Berlin (as well as the other things) then do it - it's your trip so mix and match to suit your interests! Vroom, vroom! ;D

ah yes me and my tangents, ill end up in Africa if i dont watch out "wow spain is so close to morroco, i alaways wanted to go there...." but think ive settled down now, well hopefully. Thinking about Stuttgart all i want to see is Porsche meuseam. Benz is 50/50. Munich's BMW museam is crap apparently, and theres a VW factory where they make Phaeton and Bentleys in Dresden so ill definately be going there, but no VW trips, hmmmmm wonder where Audi is based.........

3.5 days is enough for Berlin, imo. I spent about that much time there and saw everything I wanted to, but it's probably close to the bottom of my list of favorites.

got a new detour in Italy Modena, home of Ferrari Good grief antoine, aren't you meant to be studying right now?!!! No more study breaks to research the trip or you will end up in the middle of the Atlas mountains! I can't even keep track of your itinerary now! Just a thing on the Ferrai Musuem (Galleria Ferrari) in Modena, it's a bit difficult to get to unless you have a vehicle as it's not actually in Modena, but nearby in a place called Maranello. It's chock full of samples of many of the models Ferrari have produced and you'll find yourself drooling over them at each step. It's not a massive sized museum, can easily be visited in an hour, but it is off the beaten track. The only way there (without a car) is by bus (or Euro50 taxi ride!), either from Modena (30 mins, from the train station I believe) or Bologna, if you find yourself there instead (mainly private bus tours from here). Check out www.galleria.ferrari.com for museum info. There are many shops in the town (even though it's not very big) selling all things Ferrari, and a few cafes and a great bakery for lunch. Yes, the BMW Museum in Munich can be denoted as "crap" (read: for fans only), but it's the only one so thought you might like to spend 30mins in it to add to your list, hence the suggestion.

I KNOW huh, or Altlantis even (always wanted to see a city under water hmmmmm), found this great site which tells you how to get there (Modena to Marnallo) by public transport so guess it should be allright (http://www.d2.dion.ne.jp/~ciaohide/page2.html) Its between Florence and Venice so fits in perfectly. Im a car and F1 nut worked for AMG during the F1 and have met Kimi and Pedro, the corporate box was directly over the main straight on Albert Park, AMAZING!!! Any one wants pics PM me.
In relation to Berlin booked my hostel for 13th-16th cos i fly in on the 13th from Salzburg (think redbull can leading to a ticket from salzburg to berlin, ill let you fill in the gaps) and need a place to stay regardless. Also waiting on Porsche to get back with a confirmation for the tour on the 17th.
Cheers to dougj, will probably combine the lonley planet 2 day iten with the other places i want to visit.
17days and counting (and sort of studying)

Kinda figured that antoine I'm not a car nut, but I enjoyed the Ferrari Museum when I visited, so I'm thinking you'll love it a lot! Hope the Porsche tour works out too. Let us know about them (details, etc) when you've done the tours. I'm sure there are others on the boards who would enjoy adding a tour or two of the big car manufacturers to their itineraries. Oh, I forget but are you going to Monaco at all?

Oh, I forget but are you going to Monaco at all? Originally i planned to go to Nice, but i thaught with it being winter and the massive train trips to get to Barca i should skip it. I got a call from a lady at Por-sha and shes getting in touch with stuttgart to get me on a factory tour there. Also got a reservation for a tour for the Transparent Factory of Volkswagen in Dresden. Seems like everything is going very well indeed, just need Porsche Leipzig to get intouch. Also got UEFA Cup tickets for Paris ;D

Also got UEFA Cup tickets for Paris ;D Now I'm jealous! Fair point about Monaco/Barca, thought it might have been on your F1 list of places to visit, but save it for next time. Have some info for you next time you go over.

ah yes me and my tangents, ill end up in Africa if i dont watch out "wow spain is so close to morroco, i alaways wanted to go there...." but think ive settled down now, well hopefully. been there, done that. was with mis padres on a trip to Spain in '99. Mom had that same wish: to see Africa. so, the three of us spent a day going to Tangier. personally, i saw no charm in Tangier. [we planned to spend two nights at a charming hotel in Tarifa, going to Africa from there. but, the ferry didn't go from Tarifa. we drove to Algecirus to catch the ferry. because of the schedule being so tight, we didn't get the chance to see much of that charming hotel in Tarifa: Meson de Sancho]
