Both Kim and I frequent a 'competitors' board...okay, I am a mod there as well truth be known, but we have both hung around this site for a goodly time and know well the board owner. We all originally got to know each other on yet another board which splintered and so I ended up on both Kim;s and Mouse's boards. Life sucks sometimes and here is proof...this vibrant 38 year old woman, an archeologist is fighting the battle of her life and may not win. Cancer is an insidious thing, especially in one so young......although most of you may not know this dear friend of ours, if you are at all of the prayer persuasion I humbly ask for yours to be given for Jane. I know that here on Kim's site we try to stay on subject...travel...and strive to keep politics, history, personal matters to a bare minimum...but my heart is heavy tonight and my soul simply weeps. Sorry for this most private of posts.....it's a rough night. A fellow traveler, another backpacker needs your positive thoughts and prayers......

God, it's such a tragic thing to be told you only have a short time left. She's so young and inspiring - I really feel for both her and her family. It's just so, so sad.
Mouse - we're thinking about you.

This is so unfair - I'm close to the same age and it's just terrible to contemplate. I'll definitely be thinking of Jane/Mouse!

Thanks so much for your good thoughts for Jane. I think she is actually 42, but obviously that is still far too young to be facing this. Ging have you talked to her? I am afraid that the one conversation I had with her was awfully teary.

Yes, we've talked....impossibly difficult and heart wrenching.

I can totally relate... When finishing my studies, I interviewed women who had breastcancer. Some of them were fighting the same battle as Jane. A few of those talks went way beyond the subject of my paper. I was moved to see how brave they were and how they gained courage from the love of people close to them.
I still regret one of them didn't live to see he endresult of my paper. So had two young children, use to work as a nurse herself and was so full of warmth and knowledge.
I don't pray, but my thoughts certainly will be with Mouse/Jane.

With sadness I relate that our dear friend passed away this morning. She made it back to London, her home of many years, but did not manage to beat this awful disease. She touched so very many lives in her short time and was so loved and will be so missed by so many 'strangers' who mourn her passing like any family member. Thanks Jane for all the fun and memories....I miss you already.

I am really sorry to all of you who have known her, although I haven't, it's never pleasing to hear of someone passing, especially so young. Please send my sincere sympathies to everyone concerned

Damn...I hate to hear things like that. I guess its one of those life things there bad things happen to good people.I never knew her either but she seemed like a great person. The only Up-side I can think of would be there is now one more guardian angel up there working hard to keep us safe in our travels. I give you and all her friend my deepest condolences

Jordo, I love your guardian angel idea. Jane would be the type to give us a lot of rope! Jane virtually *crackled* with life: intelligence, humor and a love of travel. She will be missed by many.

Jordo, it's a really sweet idea! Well at least now us GFE backpackers will have someone to look over us! I imagine things happen in life for a reason, although we don't always agree with these reasons. Once more, truly sorry!
