For the past few years, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has been offering a promotion where they have a cheap airfare (previously $299 + tax) from all of their major US gateways, including Seattle. The airfares previously have been good for dates from January through March (if I recall correctly). Previous destinations have included places like Stavanger, Norway; Geneva; Milan and others, for 24 different cities in total. Early on December 1 you get an email with a link that leads you to a page where you open that day's special. If you've seen an Advent calendar, you know you get a prize for every day you open. Here's the link to sign up. campaign.scandinavian.net/christmas2004/us/

Thanks WT! I ran right over and signed up. Have no immediate plans to go anywhere just now....but for $299 I can be persuaded! ;D

Today's (Dec. 1) destination is Stockholm, but I can't see what the price is. The server is too busy! Maybe it will be better by the time everyone else reads this.
Edit: I got in. Here are the prices.
December 1: Stockholm From New York (EWR), $249 + taxes r/t Washington, DC, $249 + taxes r/t Chicago, $249 + taxes r/t Seattle, $299 + taxes r/t
Book quickly if you want in on this. But remember there will be 23 other cities - one city every day until Dec. 24.

Keep us updated Will...I signed up for the newsletter but its links don't seem to be working for me (not that I can get any time off from work in the near future anyway).

Today (Dec. 2) the winning city is . . . OSLO!
Same prices as yesterday more or less.
It is possible to book tickets now. I found that yesterday there was a lot of availability for Stockholm once I got through.

No! Sadly. I can't justify yet another trip at this point . I'm just dreaming. I just wanted to make sure the tickets actually exist and can be obtained, and it seems they can.

That's good to know. Next destination is Copenhagen. I've already been so I'm holding off. Maybe my dream destination will be included. You never know Has anyone ever flown with SAS and if so what are the reviews. These fares are almost too good to pass up!

I agree Tracie....just too good to let pass. And like you, I am holding out till someplace (hopefully) I've been yearning to go to or revisit pops up. I can't imagine that I won't be in possession of a ticket to somewhere before this month is over!

Does anyone know how much 249 + tx comes out to? I haven't been able to see!

For today's destination, Copenhagen, the total is $395.01 USD from New York, so the taxes are almost $150!

Ouch! But it's still well worth it for a round trip, that's like a third of the price! xoxo Jen

On Flyertalk, someone went to a lot of trouble and somehow uncovered what city will be shown most days. No guarantees of accuracy or that it won't be changed, but it seems to be holding: www.flyertalk.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3460269&postcount=51Today (Dec. 4) is Milan. Although that's not the most desirable destination according to most, you can always use Milan as a springboard to anywhere in Italy (or Switzerland for that matter).
