I'm loving my new Nikon D50. They're pretty cheap now, at around $600 or so. You can see some of the shots I've taken via my link below (they were cropped, but they are full size) to see their picture quality. The best $600 I've ever spent!

But wait, there's more! ;D Minolta is now getting out of the camera market ENTIRELY! They're selling their camera divisions to Sony.

What kind of memory card does your camera take? What about just buying a crapload of memory cards, then you don't need to worry about burning any photos. Plus, memory cards are small and can easily be hidden in your bags.

I've had good luck with the HP Cameras. Pretty cheap, fast start up time. Just make sure to get some memory cards for it! Get enough, no need to dump them somewhere!

Yuppers, I use a Palm Tungsten C for everything. It's got a little built in keyboard and everything! See it here www.palm.com/us/products/handhelds/tungsten-c/Anyway, I've managed to get it to sync with Outlook over the Internet, meaning I can set it up at someone's house, and if I need information I can ask them to hunt it down for me, and the next time I sync the Palm, whatever information they found is automatically downloaded. The Tungsten C also has WiFi built in, and takes SD cards. Webbrowser and e-mail client built in, and there's a free program you can use to find WiFi all over the world. Nice and easy! What model do you have that you'd be taking with you?

what does DOM have against digital cameras? they're so much fun! and you know right away if your pics suck! She's just a film kinda gal. We've all tried to convert her, but it's like asking Jessica Simpson to answer 1+1: It'll never happen.

I use MAC Computers almost exclusively, and don't plan on buying any Windows PC's -- EVER! See, and I used to like you Eagle... ;D That's pretty much it, the different letters means different speeds. To be safe, I'd go with a card that supports all three (802.11a is actually the latest and 'greatest'). As for laptops, Dell is a good place. Keep checking them though, ecsp. around the holidays. They have some MASSIVE sales. Almost any laptop will do, but I'd try for an ultralight model with built in Wi-Fi. Be careful when you buy though, some models say free Wi-Fi, and then they send you a card to insert in your computer. These WILL get broken sometime during your trip (*cough* I didn't see it on the chair before I sat down...)

While it may SEEM like a good idea to bring a laptop with you, general consensus on the board is DON'T! They may seem light, but after a while it'll feel heavy, not to mention all the wires and converters you'd need to bring. What about buying more memory cards for your camera?

What Eagle said. ;D I was gonna reply, all ready to type out and everything...then I saw Eagle already posted, so it's a moot point to post anything else. What would we do without you Eagle? ;D

That's a cool little device, but it just adds (a) to the weight of your pack and (b) it's one more expensive thing that you may lose. That's the only reason I wouldn't take one. If your digital camera supports some kind of flash memory, I suggest you buy a REALLY large card that can hold lots of pictures. I have a 1gig SD card in my camera that can hold over 1000 pictures! You can get any number of cards from places like Newegg REALLY cheap. www.newegg.com/app/manufact.asp?catalog=68&DEPA=7Doug
