I'm going to be travelling in May (Amsterdam, Barcellona), and June (Rome, Florence, Prague). I'm really concerned about reservations, will I need them? If I make reservations do I have to give them a credit card number? And what happens if I can't make a reservation? I've never even booked a hotel in North America, let alone a hostel in Europe.

I stayed at A&O Zoo in Berlin, it was good for meetin people and partying, since it has two bars. The showers were disgusting though... if you can handle that it is a great place, literally accross the street from the station and dirt cheap, 10 euro for a 12 person room, 13e for an 8 person room. I'm actually in Prague right now and I'm staying at the boathouse, it is fantastic, such a homey attmosphere. The people are fantastic, and the staff know you by name, which I think is top notch. In Amsterdam, I don't know where is good to stay, just don't stay at the "Budget Tourist Inn", it was clean, but it was a crappy place.

I would also go with TD, it never caused me a problem once, and the $3 withdrawl fee is minimal if you withdraw large amounts at a time (though then you have the burden of holding a lot of cash). Be sure if you open a new account to check into your withdrawl limit and get it raised if it is low. Some banks may be hesitant to do this with a new account, but when you tell them no raised limit = no new account, they change their tune.

I was wondering if it is possible to donate to the site with paypal or anything? I've noticed the ad-free link and I'll get on that. This website has been priceless in planning my trip and prevented me from leaping from a bridge many a time. Let me know!

Some trains have luggage racks at the end of the train too, but overhead is your best bet. Don't be deterred if your pack is large, if it fits then stuff it up there. For the most part you shouldn't have a problem... I've heard horror stories from overnight trains though.

if you do go with the eurail pass, I recommend checking out www.railsaver.com, it's too useful for words.

Learn how to use the metro, they are just awesome. Also, check out your eurail pass info, I believe your eurail covers transportation on the S/U-Bahn in Berlin, and it works for other places similarly.

My reason for so many trips to Paris is I have a friend there with an apartment, and I have two more friends flying there on the 10th. I considered the London-Amsterdam route, but then I wouldn't have any time to spend with my 2 friends comming on the 10th in Paris. As far as flexible, I am entirely flexible about the whole thing, except for the dates in Amsterdam... Edit: Looking at this more realistically, I think I'll move London to the end of my trip and bump everything up 4 days, that would: cut out an unecessary train ride, allow me to spend time in paris with my friends, and allow me to take the train to amsterdam with my friends. I don't know why i didn't think of this earlier. www.railsaver.com this website is awesome! Thanks so much.

Below is my current itinerary. I was thinking of getting a eurorail flexipass for 10 or 15 travel days and then buying the plane tickets to replace what would be long train rides. Is this my best option?
May 2nd - Arrive in Paris 2nd - 7th in Paris (train to london) 8th - 12th in London (train to Paris) 12th-15th in Paris (train to Amsterdam) 15th-20th in Amsterdam (train to frankfurt) 21st-24th in Frankfurt (train to prague) 25th-30th in Prague (fly to florence) 31st - June 5th Florence (day trip to pisa) (train to rome) 6th - 11th Rome (fly to barcelona) 12th - 17th Barcelona (train to paris) 18th - 22nd Paris (fly home on 22nd).

I noticed someone post on these romeing tours, www.romeingtours.com, are they any good? Does anyone know any tour sites like this for other places in europe? I'm thinking that one of these tours would be a good idea, a nice organized way to see all the (popular) sites.

So thankfuly a new pope has been elected, I was fearing that would take awhile. What I'm wondering is just how much this whole pope thing is going to impact Rome in terms of business. I was wanting to visit some of the "religious touristy spots", but if they are going to be crawling with people praying I don't know how my luck is going to be. What do you all think?

Who knows, I might look good in a lemon lime skirt, it could bring out my eyes. I guess it will come down to whether I can handle waxing the legs or not...

The original post was by me, before I figured out how to use the forums. I suppose I should of specified that I am a guy... so I don't think perfume, make-up, lingerie, or that little skirt are going to be purchases of mine. But thanks for the idea, it's always good to bring home pretty things for the gf.
